To install local storage buses and devices

  1. Move all groups off the node on which you want to add the hardware.

For more information, see "To move a group to another node" in Related Topics.

  2. Shut down XOX or XOX on the node to which you want to add the hardware, and then turn off the computer.
  3. Install and configure the card and devices for the new local storage bus, and then install the appropriate drivers.
  4. Turn on the computer and restart XOX or XOX on the node to which you added the hardware.
  5. If you installed a new drive, partition and format it, assigning new drive letters or mounted drives as appropriate.
  6. If you want to use Encrypted File System (EFS) on this local device, enable encryption on the device (using either the drive letter or mount point). Then, create roaming profiles for all users or service accounts that store data on that device.

For more information, see "To encrypt a file or folder" and "To create a roaming user profile" in Related Topics.

  7. In Cluster Administrator, verify that the node has rejoined the cluster.
  8. Move the groups referenced in step 1 to the node with the new hardware, as appropriate for your cluster configuration.
